Writing on medium was a way for me to process having two children to a person with narcissistic traits while I was going through family court to protect my children.

Little did I know at the time that narcissists and toxic relationships was all the rage.

Turning lemons into lemonade, I kept up the writing, but as I healed I became interested in writing about other things like parenting and new discoveries in research, or short-fiction and naturopathy. The readers still wanted to hear about narcissists.

I guess it’s like being a great garden gnome maker and everybody is buying your garden gnomes, but deep down you want to make giant fairies and insects, so you give that a go, you lose customers, and realize you’ve got to go back to garden gnomes. Fairies and insects will have their time.

I was also very fortunate that Medium was paying bonuses in 2021 and I was paid a $500 bonus on top of my read earnings, along with other small bonuses each month.

I’m a mother of five and student so I don’t put the effort I wish I could into my writing, but I do make a healthy side income from my writing hustles, and at this stage medium.com is still the highest payer.

I understand that it is harder to make money on Medium now, though I truly believe if you write for publications, set up your own publication, and engage frequently you can make a good income writing on Medium.com.

You can’t go wrong when you love doing what you do💚
