How To Keep Your Old Stories Earning.
My most viewed stories were written four years ago!
Although your most recent stories make more money than the older ones, it’s very handy to have your old stories rolling in some passive income when your taking a break from writing or on other writing projects.
I’ve been fortunate that some pages shared my half-finished story recently and it’s done well for this month, but I’ve had to keep coming back between kids, work, and study to edit it, so most of the readers read it unfinished!
It’s also not against the rules, unless you’ve published on a publication that stipulates otherwise, to publish your story on other platforms such as vocal.media, though unlike medium.com, you will have to pay the monthly fee to earn anything decent through vocal.
However, it does mean you can enter the competitions, which pay up to $20k USD, so don’t miss out on that!
Thread through your old stories into related new stories with links and while you’re at it you might want to give them a freshen up and edit too, without completely rewriting it of course.
I recently had an issue where no matter how I tried I could not get an old story on the paywall, it was listed, everything else seemed fine, I don’t even know why it wasn’t pay walled in the first place, so I republished it.
I’ve never done that before, and must remember to delete the old one, but do triple check that all your stories, you want pay walled, are in the partner program.
