I love New Zealand, without being arrogantly patriotic, we are the best country in the world. I can make that assumption because I’ve only ever lived in one other country, Australia, the second-best country in the world.

“God bless America, God save the Queen, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia.” — Russell Crowe.

I’m playing, wherever you are right now is the best country in the world, because you’re in it. Nonetheless, politics has been hilarious in New Zealand with our Minster for the COVID-19 response telling people to spread their legs and our Prime Minister telling everyone to stay home and get high.

Despite all the political unrest, our Ministers have managed to find unique ways to keep us all entertained.

Chris Hipkins and Ashley Bloomfield.

Anti-mandate protesters have camped up outside the beehive, our parliamentary building, for the past few days in an effort to fight against the Covid vaccine mandates. Parliament has responded by turning on sprinklers and playing Barry Manilow songs.

If that wasn’t funny enough, James Blunt added to the laughs by tagging the New Zealand police offering his services. James Blunt’s “You're beautiful” was voted the most irritating song ever recorded in a OnePoll survey, came first in Gigwise’s 20 worst love songs, and first again in Heavy.com’s worst track of the 2000s.

“[James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful] is the worst song in the history of mankind” — D. Sussman (Spike Magazine).

Personally, I love the song, but if you play it over and over again, I’d leave. Today, parliament is playing let it go from the Frozen movie and yesterday was the macarena. Which song would you choose to play from our parliament building?
